For companion stones and family monuments, we coordinate the timing of additions so the existing stone is not disturbed. For new graves, we typically wait until the ground has settled sufficiently to support a permanent foundation.

Resetting Shifted and Sunken Monuments

Older cemeteries throughout Morris County have stones that have shifted, leaned, or sunk over the years due to soil settling or original foundation issues. Monroe Monuments performs monument resetting services — we excavate the foundation, re-pour or repair as needed, and re-level the stone to its original upright position.

Timing Your Installation

Most cemetery installations can be scheduled within a few weeks of monument completion. Cemeteries typically require advance notice before the installation date — some require as little as 48 hours, others require a week or more. We coordinate all of this on your behalf.

Concrete foundations for upright monuments require curing time — typically 24 to 72 hours — before the stone is set. For markers with a simple pad foundation, the installation and setting can sometimes be completed in a single visit. We structure the schedule to minimize the total time between order completion and stone setting.

For families who want to attend the installation, we coordinate with you to schedule it at a time that works. It is not required, but many families find it meaningful to be present when the stone is set.
